To gain admission to Turanga Ararau applicants will need to be New Zealand citizens. To gain entry to the course a reasonable level of literacy and numeracy skills is required as is demonstrated competencies equivalent to the national certificates in agriculture - Level 2 through employment in the industry or previous studies. Applicants also need to demonstrate a commitment to complete the course requirements combined with a reasonable standard of self-management skills.

Graduates will have industry relevant transportable skills and knowledge recognised through a pre employment qualification that will enable them gain meaningful and sustainable employment on sheep and beef farms within Iwi Maori enterprise and the wider industry. In addition to the national qualification learners will also increase their competency in Reo Maori, tikanga a Iwi, computing and communication skills.

For those seeking further advancement in the industry experiencing success in completing an initial qualification will give them the confidence, motivation and pre requisite skills and knowledge to move onto advanced learning that they could gain,this includes the National Certificates in Agriculture - with chosen strand either/or Work Ready, Stockmanship, Animal Health and Husbandry Levels 3 - 5 as well as diplomas and degrees within the agricultural or related industries.
