Entry Requirements

To gain admission to Tūranga Ararau you need to be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident. To gain entry to the programme you will need to have literacy and numeracy skills at step 4 or above on the assessment tool and at least two level 3 qualifications in the industry or equivalent experience as well as a demonstrated commitment to work in the industry.

 

Programme Outcomes

This programme is designed to help you gain or advance in employment in the agriculture industry in positions of responsibility. In successfully completing this programme you will be awarded the New Zealand Certificate in Agriculture (Breeding Livestock farming) Level 4

Programme Dates and Hours

Start Date:     February 2018                                

Finish Date:   December 2018                               

 

Face to face contact will be an average of 8 hours a week, 10 hours in the workplace and 10 hours self-directed learning as a minimum.

Programme Outcomes

 

On successfully completing this programme you will have the qualification, skills and knowledge to progress to:

- New Zealand Certificate in Production Management (Level 5)

- Diploma in Agriculture from Lincoln or Massey University

 

Employment

Commence a pathway towards farm management commencing with positions of responsibility including senior shepherd, stock manager and farm assistant or other simular roles in the farming industry.

Once in employment you can continue to upskill and complete industry qualifications through the Industry Training Organisation, Primary ITO with the support of your employer.
