If you are highly motivated and committed to work and advance in the farming industry our Tairāwhiti Farm Cadet scheme is an ideal step to help you get there. Hostel accommodation is available for Level 3+ students at our Ruapani Station, Tiniroto at no cost to you.
Available in Gisborne and Hawke’s Bay where an aquaculture strand is also available through NCEA Vocational Pathways Level 2.

New Zealand Certificate in Primary Industry Skills - Level 2

New Zealand Certificate in Primary Industry Operational Skills - Level 3
New Zealand Certificate in Agriculture (Farming Systems) - Level 3
New Zealand Certificate in Agriculture (Meat and Fibre) - Level 3
At just 16 Karma Higgins, Ngāti Porou, joined Tūranga Ararau to gain two Level 2 qualifications before completing three Level 3 farming qualifications as a Ruapani farm cadet. From there she and her partner found employment with B&B Jarden Crutching Contractors operating a mobile crutching unit servicing over 30 local farms.
