Earthworks and Infrastructure

We offer programmes to meet the opportunities in this busy sector both in forestry earthworks across the motu and in repairing and maintaining roads and infrastructure throughout Tairāwhiti.

Forestry Earthworks

(see also our Ngahere-Forestry page)

Forestry earthworks crews are engaged by forest management companies to construct and maintain roads, tracks and landings inside their forest estates. This work is mostly for forest access in advance of harvesting operations and includes high quality arterial roads, secondary roads and tracks. The primary machines for the work are tracked excavators and our training programme is mostly for the operators of these machines, who are employed within the crews.

Our programme is supported by employers and their in-house Trainers, and assessors who are appointed by Tūranga Ararau.
